Green smoothies are a great way to bump up your fruit and veggie intake, and start the day with a natural energy boost. Plus, it’s easy being green when you know how! If you haven’t hopped on the green smoothie bandwagon, or are looking for a fresh, new recipe – Lea Rouse A.K.A Trainer Lea from Fitstar Personal Trainer has a tasty recipe for you.
Following the rule of fives, watch how Lea whips up an easy breakfast favorite that’s sure to jumpstart your morning. What’s the “rule of fives,” you ask? To get a stellar smoothie that’s packed with nutrients, Lea suggests you use at least one of each of the following:
1. Fruit
2. Vegetable
3. Superfood
4. Protein
5. Liquid
For this green goodness, Lea uses blueberries, spinach (hence the bright, beautiful color!), coconut milk, and flax seeds for a boost of fiber. She also loves using ginger to fulfill the superfood requirement, and some avocado to check the box on healthy fats. Plus, avocado will make your smoothie extra creamy – yum! Top it off with some protein powder of your choice and ice for a frosty finish. Put your best foot forward this year and try Lea’s healthy Green Goddess Smoothie today! (Recipe follows.)
